Tech Tips From Our Repair Lab Technicians

Our technicians have compiled a list of useful care tips for your unit, they are listed by product unit below.

Shaft Hog System

[ Troubleshooting ]
  • Lasers Not Working:
    • Check cable connections
    • Check batteries in display unit
    • Make sure lenses are clean
    • Check the connector where it plugs into the display unit to ensure that there are no bent pins on the connector
  • Change Between Metric and Standard:
    • Press and hold the +/- key and turn the unit on to switch between the different methods
[ General Care ]

Glass lenses should be cleaned on a regular basis, or any time Shaft Hog doesn’t appear to be repeating. They should be cleaned with the items below by wetting the end of a q-tip and gently cleaning the lenses in up and down motion:

 

Cotton Swab (q-tip)

Alcohol or glass cleaner

No substitutions!


GO/GO Pro System

[ Troubleshooting ]
  • Lockup or Freeze:
    • Remove battery
    • Unit will reboot and screen will display an option to return to the current task
  • Lasers Not Working:
    • Check cable connections (on GO Basic)
    • Check batteries in bluetooth units (GO Pro)
    • Make sure lenses are clean 
    • Assure bluetooth pairing (GO Pro)
    • Ensure there are 4 pins on the connectors on the td’s for GO Pro
  • Transferring Data to a PC: 
    • GO/GO Pro should be on Main Menu screens
    • Connect to PC using cable
    • Image of display unit cabled to a PC screen should appear on display unit
    • If display unit is connected to a PC for the first time, the PC must recognize the unit as an external hard drive
    • You should get a prompt in the lower right hand corner of your PC screen, recognizing the display unit
    • Copy and paste from the GO to the PC
  • Change the Screen Contrast:
    • Enter global settings and go up to the battery icon
    • Hold the number 8 key down and then press the up arrow
    • Use the up and down arrows to adjust the contrast
[ General Care ]

[ Settings ]


Make sure the proper batteries are chosen in the settings menu. If using alkaline batteries use the left icon and if using rechargeable batteries use the right icon. This allows the unit to properly measure the voltage of the batteries.


 

XA System

[ Troubleshooting ]
  • Lockup or Freeze:
    • Press and hold the red on/off button until the unit turns off
    • If the unit will not turn on after holding the button you must plug it into the charger to bring it out of transport mode
  • Lasers Not Working:
    • Check cable connections
    • Check batteries in bluetooth units
    • Make sure lenses are clean 
    • Ensure there are 4 pins on the connectors on the td’s
    • In bluetooth settings, make sure that the bluetooth are active with the icon; The icon will have a green outline around it if using bluetooth.
    • If using cables make sure the left icon has a green outline around it
  • Touchscreen Not Working:
    • Press and hold on the screen where there are no icons
    • After the crosses come up, just follow the prompts
    • After recalibration, if the screen still does not work, it needs to come in for repair
  • Transferring Data to a PC: 
    • Insert USB into the USB slot
    • Press the filing cabinet and press on the folder where your alignments are stored or press on a folder where you wish to transfer
    • Highlight the alignment you wish to transfer to and press the paper icon
    • Go back to the filing cabinet and enter the USB
    • Press the clipboard to paste the file into the USB
[ General Care ]

Glass lenses should be cleaned on a regular basis, or any time XA doesn’t appear to be repeating. They should be cleaned with the items below by wetting the end of a q-tip and gently cleaning the lenses in up and down motion:

Never spray any liquid directly onto the touchscreen. Spray it first on a paper towel and then wipe the unit down.


NXA/EVO System

[ Troubleshooting ]
  • Lockup or Freeze:
    • Press and hold the green on/off button until the unit turns off
    • If the unit will not turn on after holding the button you must plug it into the charger to bring it out of transport mode
  • Lasers Not Working:
    • Make sure the display unit is charged; If not, plug the unit in for several minutes and then try turning it on again
    • Check batteries by pressing the battery icon on back of unit
  • Touchscreen Not Working:
    • Press and hold on the screen where there are no icons
    • After the crosses come up, just follow the prompts
    • After recalibration, if the screen still does not work, it needs to come in for repair
  • Transferring Data to a PC: 
    • Insert USB into the USB slot
    • Press the filing cabinet and press on the folder where your alignments are stored or press on a folder where you wish to transfer
